Daniel

Daniel’s story with PLAN International began last year with a work experience placement while participating in NorthStar’s PEAC Program (Transition To Employment program funded by DHS). His duties included data entry and basic office support. This year Daniel was offered part-time employment as a Direct Approach Assistant at PLAN which includes many of his previous duties under the Supported Wage System (SWS). Daniel also started and completed the Certificate III in Business Administration at NMIT this year to enhance and develop his skills to further his career opportunities. NorthStar continues to support Daniel and his employer through regular face-to-face worksite visits ensuring his continuing successful work placement.

PLAN was founded in 1937 to protect children from war. Since then it has grown into one of the world’s laargest childrens development organisations, reaching more than 56 million children worldwide. Over 75 years PLAN has proven its commitment and gained a life-time of wisdom and expertise.

Claudio

Embracia in Reservoir employed Claudio who is one of our long-time NorthStar clients as a General Services Assistant in 2008. Claudio thoroughly enjoys his job and he continues to be a valued staff member. His job role includes clearing, resetting tables and serving in the dining room for morning tea and lunch, as well as laundry delivery. Embracia in Reservoir has a large Italian community and Claudio gets to practice his Italian language skills! Claudio has been supported by Trevor his dedicated job support worker who visits him weekly onsite and his job success is a testament to their good working partnership! Embracia is a family run and Australian owned business with Aged Care and Retirement Village facilities in Victoria and Queensland. Embracia has been operating for more than 25 years and now cares for more than 800 residents across 9 Aged Care homes and employs over 1000 staff.

Linda

Linda is a valued team member at Leo’s Fine Foods & Wines. Linda has been working at Leo’s for more than 5 years so her placement here has been a great success! Linda’s journey has been an interesting one. Linda’s  journey with NorthStar started as a participant in The NorthStar PEAC Program which is a Department of Human Services funded Transition To Employment (TTE) Program. PEAC stands for Preparation for Employment and Access to the Community and helps prepare eligible young people for the world of work. Linda worked hard in the program for 2 years and towards the end of her time at PEAC Linda was offered a stock replenishment position at Leo’s Fine Foods through the PEAC work experience program. At this point Linda was registered with NorthStar’s DES program in order to access Post Placement Support by a specialist Post Placement Support Case Worker to help with on the job training and assistance for a successful job placement.
